The first step to success is to define clearly where you want to be or what you want to achieve. In a word, setting goals.
We will work extensively on goal setting techniques that WORK during Part II of the course (NLP Coach Certification).
Your first step right now is to understand the keys to achievable outcomes and define your SMART goals for the course. First, watch the video below where I go into how to set goals and some important considerations when setting goals and oucomes. Then go ahead and define your SMART goals for this course. Lesson 2 in the NLP Practitioner area of this site will also help you, watch it before doing this assignment.
I have enclosed some pdf documents below. Open them, print them out and read them 3 times before you start. When you write your goals, make sure they fit the 5 criteria presented in the pdf entitled ‘SMART Goals’.
You are welcome to ask questions and send me your goals to get feedback. Start the assignment now so you have time to come back to it, add, refine and change until you get a clear goal for the training.
Watch the short video below (for those of you who do not have Quicktime or Real Player and want to watch the video in .wmv format, click HERE)
Keys To An Achievable Outcome (pdf; Those are key concepts that you want to have in mind when setting your goals, or assisting others to set theirs. You want to be able to answer EACH key question specifically and clearly).
Goals vs. States (pdf; make sure you understand the difference between a state and a goal)
SMART Goals (pdf; the criteria to define your goals. I encourage you to print this out and keep it in front of you when you set your goals for this training)
Hi Helene,
I assume we simply think about what we actually WANT from the course?. I’ll have a think and bring them along on the day, thanks!
Hi Kelly,
Yes, define what you want from the course. Put your thinking down in writing, and make sure what you wrote satisfies the SMART criteria.
You can bring the sheet on the day and I will go through it with you to make sure your goals are smart.
We will study goal setting during Part II of the course.
Good luck!
Hi – I will do this too.
Cheers and see you on Thursday.
